Eagle padlock how to take it apart?

I recently bought this neat padlock and was wondering how to take it apart?
I asked Eric but was not able to understand his explanations… I removed the screw and tried to push it out, pull it out. With help of a screwdriver etc.

Any idea?

While I have never taken this model of lock apart there are two points I would make after looking a bit of the video over.

One: I wouldn’t use the screw as the means to drive the bible out, I would use a pin punch smaller than the screw threads so to not damage the threads of the screw or the ones in the bible. I would place the outer edge of the lock body on a vice and drive between the jaws of the vice to have a controlled solid surface.

Two: I wouldn’t use a hammer in the way it was used on the face plate…… I stopped after he hurt himself…. I just couldn’t keep watching. Pliers or something to bend in a controlled manner would be what I would be looking for while it was in a vice. But then that would only be if it had to be rekeyed.

But I guess any video that shows how it comes out is better than nothing.🙁nod):

The pin punch method is what I tried to tell him. But I think he was up a few hours late had 1 glass of wine too many because he couldnt make heads or tails of what I was saying. 🙁rofl):

Well the “punching the screw” method seems to be the only one working Dean. I just recognised that the hole for the screw goes all the way through to the last hole of one of the pins. So I was able to see one of the springs with my flashlight in there. If someone would try to put something into that hole it would probably damage the spring…

Will maybe try it within the next days 🙂

If that is the case then the next best option is to find a screw that is longer so that ALL threads are engaged so the one or two at the top don’t get damaged and the force is displaced over more threads.

That’s a brilliant idea Dean thanks! I will go to my carpenter by the end of this week, he has all kind of screws. I will probably be able to find one there 🙂
