Trying to ID a lock for a prop I'm building

Howdy,

I’ve scanned the internet looking for what this is called but I have no idea.

From the little that is shown in the show the bottom spins (in the photo it’s the top since it’s upside down) but I have no where to begin to try to find a similar one. The show has influences from Asia so idk if it is an Asian style lock.

Also you can tell that it is not completely round either, it has a hexagonal shape.

I’m hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction.

Camaro, it’s hard to really tell from your picture just what you have there. I’m assuming by your description that it’s a combination lock?
Do you have any dimensions or pictures from other angles? Are there any numbers or letters on it anywhere ? What era are you looking for? We need more facts to give you any kind of an answer. Mark

That is a combination lock. It is used much like any dial combination lock. There are a number of US patents for similar locks. Some used clicks, others relied upon counting the graduations relative to an index mark on the case. I have seen patents call for anywhere from 3 combination numbers to 6. Once the numbers have been dialed the button on the case is pushed and that releases the shackle.

Master Lock company was the latest to produce such a lock between 2004 or 2008. It was offered as a ‘titanium’ model and has been discontinued. You might look for that and then backtrack the cites in that patent to find yours.

Yeah I don’t have any dimensions as it was only shown in two screen shots of the show. I know it’s not a lot to go on and I’m good with id’ing other things but never have needed anything with a lock.

I’m just trying to get as close as possible to the type, color and exact model doesn’t matter but shape does.
