I have some Yale 853 padlock and trying to impression key for it. What i really like if anyone out there have information, drawing, and inside of the Yale 853 padlock.2

The 853 had a lever-tumbler mechanism. The cast bronze padlock line was made in numerous sizes:

Yes that was picture of Yale padlock I has. There no blank key for it. Just that there are some padlock are easy to impression key and some are very hard to make it work. At per attached Pete send give good example of what the inside should look like. Only thing i would really like it to get key blank for these padlock, i know Blue Dog carry them but there are very hard to deal with. Just wish some old timer locksmith would has carry them.

A locksmith colleague has a few original Yale blanks to fit the 800 series padlocks. Although the OEM Yale numbers are unknown, the old Ilco numbers, left to right are: 990, 991, 992, 993; all long discontinued. See image attached. I guess you are not hard person to find as I know you are put of TNT. I know this is very hard to even find any old blank key. There are time I has to make up my own blank key to get it to work. I’ll send him email to find out what he got. Once again Thank….

Yes he does I just got email from him. I know that there are time there no blank for some of these antique padlock. There are time I can make my own but not that easy to do it. So once again thank all for head up and help.

🙁clap): Well finally got a working key to get this padlock open. I has try using Flat steel key blank as it was too weak that everytime I turn the key is bent and can’t to open it. This is why I need some information on these padlock. Yes it does has code number on it but problem was that is have NB 7 next to it 8 or could be NB78. As none of it work as code number. I use a Ford blank key as it stronger then flat steel key. Now all i have to do it wait till I heard word from Seth Pher if he has the Yale blank keys if not I’ll come up with something to make it work.

Welcome as this really surprize that there still a whole lot of those padlock. The only thing bad about this finding the old blank key as not to many are around.

I have 5 of the 2 and a half inch ones, three of them are keyed alike. Then I have two of the 1.5″ tall ones, and a corby that looks just like them. All have keys.

I just wish some where a long the line that any key company could start making some old key blank for all the old padlock and door lock. I sure there still a lot of old padlock out there waiting for there old blank key…..

There are plenty of key stock in old shops as these locks are not common. It is finding those shops that is the problem. I keep tripping over old stock and make it a point that if it is OEM blanks to pick them up I have now a good selection of P & F Corbin, Sargent, Russwin and some Yale. Yale wasn’t as common out here on the West coast. This is why Seth is a good resource as he lives in NY or near where a good deal of these locks were made and used…. and he buys up old stock that he finds.

Dean could you maybe help in finding keys for 3 of my padlocks? I have on old Corbin, Sagent and an old Yale. I can post pictures. I can not impression the keys myself I would have to search for someone to do that for me.

When having keys made you would find an after market blank and get that to work and then copy it over on to the OEM blank. This way you don’t possibly waste the OEM blank. I will PM you.
