I also have a MILLER AUTOMATIC Red Dot No. 29 needs combination. Code on shackle is 248. I know it should have 5 numbers. Don’t know if it starts counting left or right. I guess it can very cause there is no stop to the dial just the raised dimple and the index to start from. I have tried for long time to get this open just sore fingers and frustration.

Many J.B. Miller Red Dot #10 combinations can be found in the old Reed Padlock Code Book. Unfortunately 248 is “missing”, the listing jumps from 247 to 249.

There are no numbers on the dial, the click feature being used. To use the combination turn either right or left to stop. Some of them stop when turned right and some left. Then start counting the clicks back and forth. Illustration:
#10-5124 Turn to stop then reverse five clicks. Reverse one click, reverse two clicks, reverse four clicks, pull out shackle. To lock, close shackle and turn knob.*

First thing to note this is not a No. 10 it is a No. 29 which is totally different series. It has no stop to the dial it is continuous turning both directions. When I say I know it has 5 numbers I am referring to the number of turns left and right required to open as automatic no 29 has 5 not 4 as with no.10 counting clicks as you go. Very frustrating lock to find anyone with correct information.
