works like chinese lock have never seen one quite like it . came from india but has more of a “patina” than usual

Your padlock is Korean and dates from the late Joseon dynasty (19th century). There is a lock museum in Seoul, South Korea that has one very similar to yours. I have a more modern Korean padlock shaped like a fish that has the same type locking mechanism and key.

yes Scott very useful but now of course i wonder how it got to
jodphur from korea and now its in sandy oregon U.S.A.
