Padlock exhibit

I’ve been asked to do a padlock display at our local museum, so tomorrow I will have around 200 of my rarer, more unusual locks on display along with some tools made in the early 1900’s by one of our towns local blacksmiths. Along with my display, another friend will display his antique level collection and the museum is going to exhibit a barb wire collection from one of our past residents. Should be a fun day, as I enjoy showing off my locks and trying to get others interested in the hobby. Mark

Well the exhibit went fairly well, for a small town. We had around 30 people show up, but all of them were very impressed and had no idea that there were so many different styles of padlocks out there. Unfortunatly I didn’t get any pictures as I misplaced my camara at home and ran out of time looking for it before I had to leave for the exhibit. It was fun letting the people handle the locks and explaining how they worked and the history on the different companies. I’ve got one more show to attend in a few weeks that hopefully I’ll be able to display the locks at, maybe I’ll get some pics there. Mark:8):

Well done (Mark)Oldbiscuit! I think it’s great you had a chance to display some of your collection at a non-lock collecting venue. Those opportunities don’t come often enough, and do help perk public interest in the hobby. Too bad it wasn’t a day when the local school had a field trip scheduled to the museum. Shame about no camera, I would also have loved to see some pics of the locks you choose to take. Keep up the good work, it’s appreciated.
