This padlock was given to me by an a man named Perry. He was an English Sea Captain aboard a freighter in Los Angeles Harbor.
It was about 1958. He told me that he was given the lock from the Queen of England and that it came from one of her gates? He was a Naval Captain in WW2. I was 8 years old and didn’t care where it came from. I just thought it was a really cool lock!
I’ve only seen one of these locks on the internet with no history. It was sold on ebay a while back. It weighs 4.4lbs/1.996 kg and
its height is 5 ⅞″/14.9cm. The lock is inscribed: “By Appointment to H.M. The King” If anyone could provide me with the background on this lock. It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dennis
