HC Jones Trick Lock

Sorry if this appears more than once, just figuring out the board.

I found an HC Jones trick lock and would like any information about it. I dont have the key but I know there is a special trick to opening it. Any help?

It’s really not much of a trick lock,that is the trick I believe was in opening the key hole cover. If memory serves me correctly,there was a small hole I think on the bottom of the lock that you inserted the pointy end of the key in which released the locking mechanism on the cover allowing it to swing to one side.Then you would insert the key into the key hole and turn it to open like a regular lock. That lock still brings good money at auctions,especially if it has the working key. However there are locksmiths out there who can impression a key to fit it for you if you dont know how to do it yourself. Nicer find, Mark:8):

I was able to oil up the lock and did find out how to open its dust cover. You depress one of the tiny holes at about the 7pm position on the front face to reveal the key hole. I don’t have the ability to make a key. I was told by another collector that a Mr. Bill Nix could do this. Does anyone have advice on getting in touch with this person? Thanks.

Also, this collector mentioned the size of this lock is uncommon, and that they are typically larger?
