I inherited a Star Lock Works brass lever crab style padlock from my Grandfather and finally am getting around to learning about it. It’s be a lot of fun so far and now I want to look for more so it won’t be lonely. I’ve discovered it’s very hard to find a key. My lock was invented by Louis Hillebrand and was patented in March 1870. I was told it was a luggage lock. A commemorative version was at the 1893 Columbian Worlds fair in Chicago, Illinois and it was advertised for dog collars. I have all the information from the USPO, which shows the key too. I’ve searched on the internet and ebay and no luck on the key. Any ideas where to look next? Wondering who else made the crab style padlocks? Nice to be here. Reba
