E.P.Hurd Lock

This lock belonged to my wife’s great grandfather. He passed away in the ’50s if that helps date it, but who knows how long he had it, did he buy it new, or did he inherit it too? Anyway, she’s been wondering if its collectable, and who might be interested in it. Any help with age or value would be appreciated.

The Hurd Lock Co. is still around. You might contact them to find out when they changed name from E.P. Hurd to just Hurd. That would tell you at least the window of when the lock was made.

I have a need to buy some new Hurd Lock #325-A1 padlocks but I have been unable to contact them by phone or on line. Are they still in business? If so can anyone help me get access to them?

The Hurd factory in Greeneville, TN was closed in December, 2006. Hurd still exists in name only and manufacturing was consolidated into the CUMSA factory in Matamoros, Mexico. I believe the company is now called ASP/Pierce LockCraft Co. and includes automotive locks and keys from the former Auto-Security Products, Hurd and Lockcraft lines. I don’t think Hurd padlocks have been available since Greeneville closed. Here is a link to ASP, Inc., perhaps you could obtain more information from them:
