Agreed that it looks like ‘tourist trinket’ from Pakistan/India - especially in the pics I provided. When holding it in real life, there are a few telltale signs of craftsmanship that is a little better than what one would expect from ‘trinket-grade’ locks from India or Pakistan.
That said, I still thought it was from India, but having the benefit of being able to look inside the lock, I could tell it had some age to it.
It was quite a surprise to spot it today, as I was browsing through the catalogue pages posted by macs_07.
This just goes to show what a rich resource this site has become, as content has accumulated over time. I doubt I would ever have learned the maker of this lock unless macs_07 had uploaded those catalogue pages.
