It’s quite probable that there are many more keys than locks in the world.
Almost anything shipped over from China or the Far East will be a reproduction. All the “Dragon locks” and the like are cheaply cast copies from old designs, and I’m sure they copy the key designs, too.
I’m sure a few have been dug up from a field in Norfolk, but I doubt anyone buying “antiques” off eBay actually expects the genuine article.
