I live in Terryville, CT… obviously the cause for my interest in lock collecting. I usually seek out old Connecticut locks. I have viewed some of the websites warning of fakes (and have unfortunatly bought a Jas Morgan albeit on the cheap). Are most of the Yale, Corbin, Sargent and Eagles safe. I haven’t really seen many warnings on these manufacturers. Thanks for the anticipated help.

For the most part I wouldn’t worry about the more common locks,but having said that there are fake Yale locks out there,but they are the more common current production types. You can go to this web site http://home.southwind.net/_drcwks/index.html to seelots of fake locks and what to look for.Also you might want to purchase The Padlock Collector by Frank Arnall (there’s a link to a site on this web site where you can order a copy) This book has 2800 pics and descriptions as well as lots of onfo on lock co’s and hrdw co’s.The books last edition is 1996 so the prices are slightly out of date but it is still the most accurate and complete book out there. Good luck with the hobby, I know I’ve enjoyed collecting padlocks for many many years. Mark
