Milner's Double Door Safe

We have a Milner’s double door at work and we are wondering if anyone can help with identifying it age.

We think it’s a List 2 Number 9
Series number is 136660

Hiya Alan there was a load of Milners lock serial numbers and dates openly available on here but unfortunately it seems they have been removed as it now shows an error message-Restructuring site.

It’s definitely a very early one with those square corners and that style of drop handles, and the 6 digit number narrows it somewhere between 1871 and 77.

Thats unfortunate, would be great to be able to age safes with serial number.
Thank you for approx. year, that will be close enough.

We have many old safes and locks, lots of old Milner and Ratner locks, I thing we have found documents that provide their age.
Is there something available here that would have age of lock via serial numbers?

The Safe Serial numbers indices will be reinstated when we move platforms in the next couple of weeks, We have the Tann registers (F or Finishing Books), and the Hobbs, Chubb, Chatwoods, Milner etc. micro film. HoLRSG members will be able to download these iddex’s but individual safe records will have to be requested (partly for security reasons).

The aim is to put the HoL database on line, a lot of work I know, but the collections and what we have learnt about them is for the memberships appreciation - more info when we move to the new platform shortly.
