Alan, they’re called “Jail Type” because in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s they were used to secure strong boxes, doors and jail cells. There were quite a few Scandinavian locks made over the years by many different lock companys . They were built so well and strong that a lot of them have survived to this day. Prices range from $20 on up to several hundred depending on the rarity, condition, working key, markings, brand names and logos.I would put yours in the $65-$85 range. You have a nice looking lock with a working key and a great momento from your dad,I’de keep it to.Thanks for showing it to us, Mark 8)
