SLS Bankers/Jewelers Grade 5, is what I’m told. Is this a Euro rating?

I’m trying to determine the equivalent US UL rating if possible. Is there a conversion chart?

Empiresafes has a brochure of an SLS Treasury listing it as a TRTL-30×6. Reconditioned safes offers one as EN 1143-1 grade 4 safe, but I think this attribution is more likely due to its former cash rating. Rating equivalents are very difficult, but the brochure should help you. I do like SLS safes. Their bolt works look quite robust.

It would not really be possible to provide a usable Comparison Chart for US Tested Safes and the European system.
The reason is that the ‘fail’ criterea differs in some respects which can result in safes being submitted for tests with features solely intended to increase the test times and the Tool/time factor with no relationship to actual criminal methods. (i.e. copper inserts)
As a result of a British safe technician returning to the UK with specialised scopes and press drill mounts some years back our safemakers had to provide more sophisticated protection to vital locking components which only increased the price and the reputation of the technician in question and are beyond most safebreakers skills - in this country at least. The current methods of breaking safes in this country is not appropriate here but I am only aware of one successful attack by non-fraudulent manipulation of the lock in the course of about 30 years. (Holborn Circus Bank Safe Deposit August 1982. - multi-million jewellery loss.)

Sir, it made the London papers but otherwise there was much secrecy. Little wonder. By coincidence I had just moved into one of the offices above the Bank in ’92 when I moved to London from Glasgow.

My colleague in Tann was consulted as evidence was coming to light on the professionalism involved, coding notes of Tann Deposit Locks etc. That was how I learned that as the criminals were ‘locking up’ they had cut the connections to the SRD relockers. There was talk in the trade at the time regarding the successful tentative picking methods which could be applied to top of the range Bank Locks.

Was the Lloyd burglary case fully solved and the burglars at least identified? Brian Reader is mentioned with the Lloyd and the Hatton Garden burglary, but it is not clear to me if this is proven and if he was convicted.

Which locks were possibly manipulated?

Since I first learned of this I have assumed the main door to be Chubb with keylocking. This might be because it was our Company’s business Branch Bank yet I don’t actually remember seeing the door as it would have been in the basement.
