Here’s a strange door. It’s at 10 Light Street in Baltimore, the former Baltimore Trust Company and several other past banks. Now apartments and retail, including an Under Armour Performance Center.
What’s unusual are the two copper bands. The boltwork is clearly York’s, and the builder’s plate supports this in another image (though barely readable):
A second plate seems to say “The Hollar Co. Engineers.”
But a decorative copper band like this was used by Mosler (and rarely, a few European examples), on doors that included an internal copper layer to resist torch attacks. But usually there is only one band. Also, several examples exist of Hollar-engineered doors made by Mosler -
So, finally, what we seem to have here is a heavy York door, engineered by Hollar, and built by Mosler.
