English safe opening.

I’ve got this safe to open with a lost key.

I’ve searched Webley and found nothing. I’ve searched West Bromwich and found Withers and Empire, so I searched both and found nothing that matches this one.

Looking for any information on the lock and/or safe.

David, the best way on these older keylocking English safes is to pick them whenever possible. Yes this is a general statement and I know there are quite a few of the older locks that would give me fits. However I suspect this one may not be so bad. A 2-in-1 pick fitted for this lock can be made up. On the other hand, if drilling is your wish I think someone will come up with lock info. I see a couple different safes when I google A. Webley & Co.

I can’t attach a name to it. I think it has a simple 8-lever lock and I would like Doug try to pick it.

I would be surprised if this safe had not been made by Samuel Withers (1855) who made safes under many badges, and who also acquired Cartwright, Perry, Hipkins and Phillips all of which were acquired by the Stratford/Tann group in 1967 with an order book for 2,000 cheap export safes.

Their standard lock in my time was known as the Bridge Lock and straightforward for a
2-in-1 pick.
