Gary, You are correct, these were made solely for the Clydesdale Bank and were known and used as Coin Safes. They were closely derived from the cash container component of early Burroughs Cash Dispensers which being a U.S company followed the UL TL15 spec. and for which my company in Glasgow obtained the initial order hence the link between Burroughs in Inverclyde and the Cb in Glasgow and later Tann’s specialisation in Dispenser Cash Containers like NCR. Gary, I am trying to reach another old more recently retired geezer who will be very conversant with this unit as when he left Fishers Safes / Tann (Scotland) he acquired all the service work for the Clydesdale. Meantime I’ll have a guess that if the unit is about 30″ high it should come in at about 6 cwts. It was great contract as these were installed at every cashier’s work station. I have a vague recollection that the lock/boltwork case was as the Stratford 1711 Stronghold. Regards … John. [unknown]

I overestimated the size so it may be more like 2 plus cwts. Mind you he’s a bull of a man so handling one by himself may not be the best way of judging the weight. John. [unknown]
