Anyone out there ?

Just to pass the time and perhaps even get a reaction, I have an interesting example of why some safes are REALLY safe.

This is quite an early Tann Bankers Quality which was subjected to the most intensive multiple attack that I’ve ever seen.

It took place in Australia in 1965 on the premises of Johns & Waygood, a Tann Agent in Sandringham.

I’ve taken the fun out of this by putting the pictures in order of attack- or have I ?

Hope that everyone out there is avoiding the plague.

I’ve never really had the pleasure of attacking a safe Safeman, so I can’t hazard a guess, but it’s certainly had a job done on it.

I think everyone must’ve hit the pub today Safeman, although I don’t know why to be honest, I’m happy to stay home and visit the fridge if I needed a drink that badly. My daughter still has me on lockdown no matter what the government say. She’s an infection control sister at our local hospital, so I can’t argue 😀

Id surmise there were a lot of hours spent getting that safe to that condition, did they finally get into it ??

From the background it appears to be within the lift manufacturing section and from the foreground the road breaker with hose would indicate that a mobile compressor was brought on site although in view of the factory surroundings it could have been existing plant. The torching has been by an experienced burner requiring more than one spare full size oxygen and acetylene bottle.
It all suggests that a full weekend had been available and that such a noise may not have been unusual.
There are no signs of the inner lining having been breached and there was no mention of other than a failed attempt.
Did wonder why such a safe would be in the works basement until I remembered the Company’s specialty. product.
Hope that you and yours have avoided the plague.

looks like a lot of work for nothing,your that close an air lance would have got in and either burnt up contents or if explosive,they would have been out of work.and life.
with all the looting,rioting and such,safe guys will be busy for a long time

Stratford Service 2314 opened in East Kilbride in 1976.
Method, torn from anchoring, body integrity and hinges compromised, door levered open by protective slab being separated from lockcase.

Equipment used : High Level Fork-Lift Truck from which safe was repeatedly dropped!

Huw will know better than I but I’ll guess at a Chubb Resolute 2215 with a body fill of Formulation 43, eh?

Unfortunately no mention of model specs- it wasn’t any form of official test, it was purely tv entertainment for the brainiac series about ten years ago. You can see the safe clearly before and during the attacks when you watch the footage.

I’m sure that safeman will be right with his predictions- they presumably didn’t want to sacrifice a trident or bankers treasury with TDR door and body, knowing what the inevitable outcome was going to be. I think even a sovereign, sls gem, tann diamond etc, would have a similar ending tbh.
