milner 212, safe

My English is not so good, I am a Dutchman, but I’ll try to do my best.
I have a Millner safe 212 with an original key. On the key is number K1839, on the frontside of the safe on the right side
nr. 1829 (I think, because there is a lot of paint). On the upperside and at the bottom of the safe are two handles to carry the safe.
Under the safe is a wooden frame.
Can someone tell me more about this safe?

Hi Rene, My list of Milners serial numbers indicates Key/Safe serial number K 1839 was produced during the early months of 1899 at the Liverpool factory. That’s rather nice, very interesting indeed to know that Milners had a Dutch agent at that time in history.

As to value, it’s hard to say as very few people collect safes, the plates & escutcheon would be more saleable, but again I find it hard to place a figure as I have never seen those exact designs. There are users of the site who collect safeplates who maybe able to advise further.

This was a traditional (old even at the time) design of safe that could be carried onboard ship easily. Milner had many agents around the world such as in Greece -not just the obvious colonies. The safe is unlikely to be saleable as a safe but the plaques would be worth £65
