Antique padlock

Would appreciate any information on pad lock found in late father-in-law’s house. Appears to be an iron padlock. Body of lock is round and about 3 inches across. One side says “U - S”; other side says “Army”. Father-in-law was never in military but was in the CCC in early 1930’s.

Almost forgot.
I checked and there is no indications on the padlock showing who manufactured the padlock.

Looks like yours has an iron case and that is more valuable than the steel or tin case version. A warded lock made by the United States lock co. in the early 1900’s. I checked the now 10 year old Arnall’s book and it shows a value of $15.00. You could likely add another $10 to that value today if you also have the key. BTW, there is no real indication that they were ever used by the US Army.

I do not have a key. I tryed to open it with a paper clip but no luck!
