The digi lock looks like a LaGard Combogard keypad, and yes, it’s a shed load younger than the safe so has obviously been retro-fitted in place of whatever the original lock was.
You should find instructions easy enough online, I think from memory the most common encountered version was the 33E, at least it was on this side of the pond.
