Old safe in the living room?

Hi guys and gals!
I got this old safe from my father in law and I hope to be able to restore him and keep him on display in the living room. (So what is the best way? formaldehyde? No joking, Im not keeping that old fart in my living room!) I am talking about the safe. You guys seem to know alot about these things. Can you enlighten me about this?
Any idea about the type? Age? what is this number on the door? How is the door removed? is it possible to remove the dial and the T-thing to get it chrome plated? without breaking the concrete?

I don’t know much about safe restoration, can’t help you there. I specialize in lockouts. I refer to these types of safes as “cast iron”. Your safe was mfg. by Syracuse Safe Co. somewhere between 1880s and 1920s.

The number on the bolt control handle and the back of the door refers to the serial number of the safe. The door can be lifted from it’s hinges. The lock is a Yale OBB and you can remove the dial as well as the BC handle without breaking the concrete.
