History of safe maker

Greetings to all from Down Under!

Can anyone please offer help to an Englishman currently living in Oz?

I have a double door steel safe about 60cms tall with the brass plate: ‘Davies & Royle Safemakers’ affixed to the front. It is key operated and has been re furbished ? using a cream paint (rightly or wrongly) I am trying to establish any history relating to the makers Davies & Royle, when were they established, where they were located and where are they now, etc. Any info or guidance would be much appreciated.

That maker does not ring any bells, but that’s not a major problem as it could be a local maker, or one of the many small firms that came and went over the years.

Might be worth just having a look at the lock plates on any internal fittings / drawers etc (if there are any) to see whats stamped on them.

Some pictures might help to roughly date it from the manner & style of construction.

I came across a safe maker named R Davies of Sedgley, maybe a connection ?

Bit more info on my safe.
Sizes in English are: 30 inches high x 30 inches wide x 22 inches deep
All corners are square
Lock removal results in ‘crystals’ escaping from hollow construction - Fire protection ?
No names/marks on any locks or interior of safe
Brass plates on each door (2) states: Davies & Royle/London/Improved Inviolable Lock/and has Lion & Unicorn emblem on both
Trying to work out how to send pictures ! To confuse things further, have new digi camera AND new laptop with
Vista system installed.
