old milner safe

I have an old Milner safe, and was wondering how heavy it is. The brass plaque says Milners’ patent 212, thief resisting. It has square edges with heavy banding wrapped around each end. It is a key lock (powder proof) with an elegant dropped brass handle for opening the locking bar. External dimensions: 26 × 21 × 21″. Are such safes still secure enough to use?

Your Milner safe probably weighs about 70Kg, certainly no more than 100Kg. Banded safes are a bit heavier than plan ones, can’t say I’ve dealt with such a small banded one. Milners have a number stamped on the front, top edge adjacent top hinge. The number can be used to date it on this site. Does the safe have plain rectangular bolts or wedge shaped ones? Upload a couple of photos for us.

it has rectangular bolts and the serial number on the front top edge is 202420, which i finally found after scraping away many layers of paint. I’m sure it’s heavier than 70kg, as I can’t budge it an inch, even tilt it up.
