Barn Sale Find

I picked up a small York safe at a barn sale. No combo, just a plain, heavy cube (₁₈″) with a 10″ round door. Maybe an inner compartment for a larger safe? Any info or ideas would be much appreciated. I can’t find any photos or info of anything similar looking.

I’m hoping to manipulate the lock. I’ve never done it before, but I’ve spent more time reading than spinning the dial, (so far) so I’m hoping to get inside without damage. It’s sort of odd looking, and I prefer older, classier looking safes, but for $5, it was worth a shot. 🙁grin):

The safe that you have is a YORK 400 line lug door, The lock is a Yale 2421 remount driver. There are 4 larger relocker that are in this door. 2 of the relockers are spring loaded and two are gravity drop.
As far as you trying manipulation , this is not the lock to learn on. This lock is in the large vault style locks.TJ

Thanks, that’s exactly what I was looking for.

I do have a persistent side to me, but I’m not sure how long my patience will last. Knowing this a difficult one, might shorten it a bit. It’s one of those projects that can just sit until I feel lucky. It’s sitting on a pallet on the back of my truck, (tailgate removed) so it’s a convenient height.

It is a bit tough to feel things in there. Almost seems to go away at one part of the dial, and very obvious in other areas. I had a stethoscope, but the head on it is too large fit on the door. I picked up a pediatric version and it works well. I can hear some differences, and I was feeling like I honing in on the numbers, no variations have worked yet.
