It isn’t necessary to remove the hinge pins as the lock is a simple tiny spring loaded bolt. A small hook tool that fits into the keyhole is all that is needed. About a half turn is all that is needed, moving the hook first in the direction of the opening side and then up. The spring is very weak so you may not realize you have retracted the bolt. Sometimes the doors stick as they are closely fitted, making you think it is still locked.
