Please help identify safe

This safe came with the house, think it did on purpose, don’t think I will be able to have this 1 moved. is it possible then is a 1ton safe? this thing will not budge

Yes, there certainly are safes that weigh a ton! That is not one of them, though. It is a small and fairly light duty safe. If you can’t move it, I suggest you look for a fixing bolt- it might be anchored down.

Unless you absolutely need the space why get it removed? Use it!

Interestingly almost all safe doors are hung the opposite way- with the hinges on the right as you look at the safe. Yours is unusual.

My father told me now that safe did not come with house it was bought from a neighbor and moved with tractor to garage, not bolted down at all, I tried to take several pics to get help with identification, would like to read specs on it. I don’t believe there is any composit crap here I think pure steel, either way would like to know more about it

I had had it recombination several years ago and tech was impressed with safe but don’t recall his comments,

It also looks as if the door would lift off. This is a very big advantage if you do want to move it as it considerably lightens the maximum load.

If you open the door and get a lever or a screw jack under the door and it still won’t lift then it must be anchored down.

Thanks chub, so I’m sure it’s not bolted down not trying to figure out how to move it, more so trying to learn more about it. Sounds like it’s not a common safe and can’t just pull up the spec sheet on it.

While a heavy safe it is not a ton. It can be moved by any safe company. I also think that it is bolted down with a panel covering the bolts. I seem to remember installing a safe like that 30 years ago. It was heavy but 3 of us were able to move it into place then bolt it to the floor. It might be a TL15 or TL30 safe. I don’t remember the brand but it might be a Gary.

As I said, if the OP can’t move it at all, then it must be bolted down.

I would get a jack or a lever under the door. If that doesn’t lift it, then it is anchored. Find the anchors and unfasten them.

Then it is simple technique. Get a wedge under it, lift it using a lever if necessary, once it is high enough get a roller under it and you are away.

Yikes, Chubby! I dont think he wants to move it! Yep, could be a Gary or a Major. Steel weighs roughly 0.3 lbs per cubic inch. Calculate the weight if you want to know it. I come up with about 840# (that’s pounds, not a hash tag)
