Oldlock thanks again for posting this, thats superb footage there, in fact it’s better than all the made-for-tv documentaries I’ve seen put together!
Of the countless generations and variations on their Treasury doors, that type with the horizontal box over the pressure mech and handles seems the least seen.
The escutcheons are a bit puzzling, I’ve seen smaller similar types on bankers safes in the past like Chubby mentioned. They were alarm linked but always had obvious feed cables feeding them via armoured loops between the door and frame. They, and the magnetic ‘limpet’ type were all super ceded by PIRs when they phased in. Not sure how they’d fit in date wise on those doors though.
The bit that’s got me more puzzled though, the video is 1967, and mentions the new installation costing £360,000. So, assuming those doors were a relatively new addition in 1967, why we’re that type chosen when They’d just launched their new clean-cut 33 inch mk3 Doors? Seems odd to me..
To be expected though I suppose, the ToL Jewel House doors always have to have a bit of mystery attached!
