Getting two antique safes, can anyone identify?

Hi everyone, I’m picking up two antique safes from a store going out of business. They both look to have been painted over and I don’t see any marks. Big one is about 60″ tall by 38″ wide by 29″ deep. Smaller one is 46″× 33.5″ × 30″. The bigger one has a rounded lip around the front edge that I’m not sure is obvious in the pictures. The smaller one is locked so the interior shot is of the bigger one.

I know it’s not a lot to go on but I thought maybe a chance.

Also, does anyone know what the metal piece is on the door to the left of the handle on the smaller one?
