Hi Ant -nice lock, can we also see inside the lock. The cap says detent, does it actually contain a detent. Also cant make out the locksmith initials.

It always amazes me the number of Chubb models, sizes and varients; its always exciting to open a Chubb lock - you never know what you are going to find!

Number indicates having been made just before outbreak of WWI in 1914.

Thanks Safeman I did think it was quite old but I thought perhaps it was just post WW1 I did used to have a book with all the dating information in it but it has become mislaid over time. The Locksmiths initials are I thought C.S will post picture of inside of lock as soon as its stopped raining and I can get to workshop in the dry 🙁whew):

Is there any false notching in the levers we can’t see in the picture?

Fairly typical of Chubb, case still marked detent with no trace of it at all. They must have had lots of stock to use after they discontinued the detent design. The false notching is much coarser that on those earlier locks.
