Mosler Bahmann safe: need help opening, have combination

InfadfadsfI would greatly appreciate if anyone has any advice reopening an antique Mosler safe. Dial says Mosler, Bahmann & Co, Cincin, O. Last patent date July 1882. I know it has worked as recently as a year ago - has been in my family for years, but cannot seem to get it to open at the moment. The combination I have saved is R past 0 (2x) to “A”, L past “A” (2x) to “B”, R past “B” (1x) to “C”, then L to “D”. I have tried multiple times, even reversing the L and R in case I was temporarily dyslexic. Any tips or tricks or indicators of problems

I have an antique Mosler safe that I have the combination to, that I have previously opened within the past year, but am having no luck tonight (nothing valuable inside - just want to be able to open it!) The dial says Mosler, Bahmann & Co. Cincin, O. The latest patent date in the center of the dial is 1882.
The combination reads as:

R past 0 - 2x to “A”
L past “A” - 2x to “B”
R past “B” - 1x to “C”
L to “D”.

I have tried as described multiple times, as well as reversing L & R, just in case I’m temporarily dyslexic! Any tips or tricks or things to look for? Thanks - this is really bugging me!

Well, here is another way that might help. The first number of turns should be 3, not 2.

dial R 3 times to A. This means that dial to the number, stop, dial all the way around then stop a 2nd time and then again a 3rd time.
Dial L 2 times to B Dial left and stop on the number the first time you come to it then go around again and stop on the number.
Dial R 1 time to C Dial right and stop on the number the first time you come to it.
Dial L straight to D. Keep turning the handle of the safe to open the door as you turn the dial to D, even going past it a little bit by 10-20 numbers or so.

Then if that does not work try reversing the L and R.

In my experience Mosler Bahmann used both the Yale 062-½ and the S&G 6810 locks. The BC handle spins free when used with the Yale lock. The Yale locks usually have a striaght line for the dialing index and the S&G a star.

I haven’t seen the dial labeled Mosler Bahmann before. Post a picture of the whole front of your safe and a clear close-up of the dial and I can tell you which lock you have and in turn tell you the dialing sequence.
