HI i was wondering if you could help. I’ve just broken into a Tann Defiance safe that has sat in my house for years without a key. We cut through the lining and then someone mentioned it could be full of Asbestos? Does any one know if this is true?

No.

The only time when asbestos was used was with fire safes from the 1950’s -1980’s and used in the ribbon fire seal around their doors.

If in doubt get it checked by the right authority. Nearly everyone who works with Safes these days is required to have a Asbestos awareness certification. You never know what you will find in old Safes.
