Diebold vault info

I am appealing to the wisdom of the group: I am the locksmith at a racino. We have a vault we no longer use that I would like to find out more about (including possible value). It SORT of looks like a Diebold Century but the dial faces are behind the front surface. Any idea of the age, model name/number? Thanks!

I believe that would be a Diebold Pacemaker and I seem to remember they were already around when I was doing bank service work in the mid 80’s, so probably sold in the 60’s and 70’s. Doug

It’s half brother is the Pacesetter. Both very popular doors in my service area.

The name “Pacemaker” was registered by Diebold as a trademark in 1969 in which the first-use date was stated as May 6, 1968. The trademark has since expired.

I could not find a corresponding trademark for Pacesetter.

“Century” was a Mosler line, the trademark states first-use in late 1953. The last-listed owner is Diebold and the trademark is still live. Interesting that Diebold would keep a Mosler name alive but not their own!

As far as value, probably zero. The cost to remove it would be very high.

Considering it’s in Northfield, you may have worked on it!

I was kind of afraid of that. Perhaps the components are worth a little, like the time lock and comb locks. Shame we don’t use it anymore.

They toss boxes of docs in there, that’s about it. They had me set it with the bolts extended so someone wouldn’t accidently get locked in (nobody had the combs so I worked them backwards from looking at the wheels). It occurred to me that maybe we could recover some of what we have into it while I was doing that. Ultimately the decision of what to do with it is above my pay grade.🙂

Found nothing about it on google or Diebold’s site.
