First, I respect the knowledge that is collected here. It is very impressive and why I joined the forum to ask a few questions. Thank you for any responses in advance.
A friend of mine recently bought a large house that included some contents.
In the first level basement in the main house, there was a safe, pictures of which are attached. It was locked of course.
In reading up on locked safes, I understand that they most often contain nothing, and sometimes contain things that are worse than nothing (dangerous).
Two things might make this more interesting than the normal locked safe.
First, the “house” is more of an estate than a house. It is 400 years old (very old for the US) and is expansive.
Second, the people who owned the house prior to my friend were here for 20 years. The safe was here when they arrived, and they never looked to open it. The man who lived here before them was a Finn who was here for 50 years, and was very eccentric. We believe the safe was his.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you know this safe or know of anyone in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area who might help us to appraise / open it? What do you think?
