Does anybody have any advice on constructing the roof of a strongroom please?

I was thinking either hollow core concrete planks and then a pour of heavily reinforced concrete over the top. I then wondered about solid concrete slabs with a pour over those- solid being better than hollow. Maybe some steel plate? I can’t decide.

I think it is going to be easier that way than to try to support shuttering for the pour.

It just occurred to me that somebody on here might have done a few so be able to give some practical tips.

The span is will be 2.2 metres. I could run an RSJ so as to support the span in the centre and might do that however I end up doing it.

I presume standards dictate that floors, walls and roofs must be at least as resiliant to attack as the door ? or does it depend on the structure that houses the strongroom ?

I don’t see any point in going vastly stronger than the door. The roof, of course, is easy to attack as when using a jack hammer on it you have Isaac Newton on your side.

With a 12mm door and a day gate, would, say, 4″ slabs then poured over with 6″ of concrete seem appropriate?

If it is a Tann Reliance Door, I suggest it might be very hard in places! I don’t want a prefabricated strongroom for this job- it is a conventionally constructed vault.

In the past I have used plywood and just poured onto that and left it in situ. Maybe that’s the way to go with this one, then plaster beneath the plywood to reduce the fire risk in the room.
