Maker Of Elephant Stamped Desk Lock?

I recently purchased a desk that has a mortised drawer lock, the manufacture of which I cannot identify. The lock is made of brass, and has a standing elephant stamped into a rounded corner rectangle on the top of the lock. Any help or suggestions as to identifying the maker would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is it on a UK or American piece ? A picture of the marking might help.

The only manufactuer using an elephant logo I can think of is Meroni.

I picture would help or is there a key number on the lock face?
