Easily opened…by ME! A little pressure against the latch (riding on the disc-edges) produced readily discernible ‘detent’ motion and sound; very little effort was required to align all three by touch. It was a snap, and I have NO previous experience in such things. Not very much security at all, seems to me…might keep my 5 YO granddaughter out, for a while…or a dog.
Pics (too big to load: I’ll retake tomorrow & post here) will show y’all more than what I can see, but it has three discs and apparently can be opened using either of two, 3-number, combinations; R-L-R or L-R-L. The extra three holes in the outer (upper) disc may (or may not) coincide with similar holes in the other two discs…I haven’t dug that far yet. They don’t look threaded, so I’m at a loss as to their function…maybe as assembly assistance, or? Lots of obvious hand-work (filing, etc.) evident on the mechanism pieces and mounting surfaces.
I’ll next take the disc-stack apart (marking everything carefully, natch) tomorrow.
An aside: Yes, it is insulated, after a fashion; the four walls to a one-inch thickness or so. But the door has none, nor does the back. Fire security about on par with access security, eh?
