Older S&G indirect vault lock info?

Hello,

I recently received this S&G vault lock and was wondering if anybody could help me date it and any other info and possibly help me find a change key and possibly a new dial ring since mine has 2 threaded holes in the side.

From what I have seen on S&G website with the U11 change key, it only works on locks made after 1956. I assume that is due to the plate that is behind the back cover with the change key hole.

My lock does not have this plate but it does have a change key hole in the back cover. The gears of the indirect drive are also open, unlike the newer locks. It is a 4 wheel model.

That dial is going to get you the date range more than anything. The logo and the fact that the numbers have a gap in them are two very distinct things.

Finding a dial ring for that should be possible, but I don’t think I have one. Large big city older safe or bank service companies are the places to check. Put a request on the Clearstar or SAVTA public websites. I would say it is early to mid 1900’s and I do have a 1927 catalog that will show the model number but I can’t check it for a few days. The original S&G change keys from that era have a bronze Mickey Mouse ears handle and are also possible to get. On these, I don’t have extras and the length varies depending the lock model. Doug

I forgot to add: In the last picture showing the back of the bolt and the lever/fence there is a different number stamped or cast on the hinge section next to the bolt. It says “P306” if that is any help. If the pictures do not show it the lock parts are also all stamped “95” which I assume is a serial number?

Here it is. Your lock would be A RH endshaft 6537 model.

I have a very good scan of an old S&G brochure here, seems it is the same as Dougs.
