Hello, first post. I know, I have read its not technically a safe per-se but it is older than I am and I will care for it dearly.
I am having an issue with the lock mechanism. I believe I have found the problem, the dial is warped, no direct damage but possible the safe had fallen on its face at one point and done the small amount of damage.
When I lay the dial on a flat surface I can rock it back and forth slightly. I am not able to take the slop out of the mechanism when all assembled because of this. If I tighten too greatly than at various points of the turns of the dial it rubs if you get my meaning.
It is a 2 inch dial. I am not wanting to up-grade or change out the assy. I like to keep things as original as possible.
I have a few straightening ideas but I think the best repair would be to replace the dial.
I do not know if all dials have the same inner diameter serrated tooth design that this one has.
Can someone please point me in the right direction for getting this safe back into service. Thank-you
