Antique strong box/vault Germany?

Dear all, I recently found this interesting site. I have a strong box/vault which I couldn’t find out more about it but guess it may be from Germany??? Could anyone here tell me more about this box, hightly appreciated. Here are some pics. Thank you beforehand and best regards, Reika

Interesting strong box. I’ve seen similar that were said to be from the 1500’s and 1600’s. Yours is the first I’ve seen with wheels. They didn’t usually want to make them easy to move. Under the plate on the inside of the lid there will be a very intricate mechanism involving bell crank levers to move all of the multiple bolts at one time. Looks like it could be German, Dutch Austrian or even French, some will know better than I. Nice box, I am envious.

Hey Gerry,

Sorry but that link is not helpful at all. The guys in the video are just talking and talking and talking… without mentioning any real useful information. They are just saying it could be from anywhere in Europe and that it is probably worth between 2000-3000€ and I would even say that it is probably worth more because the small chest is in a very good condition.

The curators of the Hans Shell Collection maybe know more about that chest but sadly I do not.
