Any idea what this safe might weigh?

Hi,
Just acquired an antique T Perry and sons, double door safe,
dia are 30″×30″×22 reason for asking is I would like to fit wheels to the bottom to enable me to get it into the house when finished restoring
can anyone guess/estimate what this may weigh.

Very often victorian safe makers stamped the weight on the safe, have a close look at the edge of the door.

Chubb for example used to stamp is QTRS, Hundredweights and then Ib’s. The maker you have may have done something similar.

I am attaching a table from which you should be able to get a resonably accurate weight for your Perry safe.

For a double door version I would think that an increase of 50% should be close.

You’ll find the outer body plate thickness more easily around the rear of the safe where the side plates overlap the back plate. Should be under ⅜″ for a Perry.

Best way to move it is with rollers underneath. I think fitting wheels on would take a lot of time and effort.
I have moved safes at ¾ of a ton just on 3 rollers so once you get them underneath its a piece of cake to push.
