Chubb vault door

We purchased a building that had previously been used to make jewellery. Inside is a vault with a Chubb door as per the photos. To cut the story we have removed the door and frame and wondered is it really worth anything ? or should I take it to a scrap yard!! The vault worked perfectly and was in my opinion a beatiful peace of engineering be that old and like myself somewhat worn.

Hi Tony,
I would say the door and frame complete is worth quite a bit, however, the difficulty is finding someone that wants it and prepared to cover the transport costs. I have worked on a few and they were getting fairly worn out on the hinges, so it might be a good replacement for someone if they wanted to take on the task.
If however you decide to scrap it, please PM me before you do.

Did this get saved in the end? I hope so.
Even if the door was scrapped the combination mechanism itself would have been of interest…
