Safe door seal - are they replacable?

In the photo’s you can see a RED stripe inside the safe interior and around the door which appear to be a sort of seal.

But when I close the door it is obvious that the door recesses a fraction of an inch to much as there is a tad bit of play when closed.

Is there a replacement fireproof seal that can be fitted to the safe?

Many modern fire safes use an intumescent fire seal. You will be able to purchase many types from solid seal to rubberised fire seal from a good hardware supplier or fire supply company.

The older stuff which used to be almost paper thin may still be available. Do a bit of local research tabbing for Fire Supplies, or Fire seals. Thereby lies a possible answer.

This safe is no longer fireproof nor should it be used for that purpose-it is an antique and so most people would like to keep as much original as possible.
A slight amount of play on the door will make it easier to open and lock.

I agree with you tom, this kind of safe is not going to be used as it was intended.

One can only assume, the renovator wants to maintain where possible, the original looks of the safe

Your assumption is absolutely correct!
Contacted a friend today who does cabinet work, and he is going to see if he can find the same wood that I have and make a new interior shlving system…. will post photo’s when complete!
