R and E lock help needed!

I am trying to restore my old victorian mansion (otherwise known as THE MONEY PIT) and we don’t have the skeleton keys for the locks and would like to get them working since we have kids that need to stay out of construction/reconstruction areas. The lock says R & E Mfg. Co. Pat. May 1866. Anyone know of these? I can post pictures shortly.

R & E will be Russell & Erwin. Advise your location & I may be able to suggest an experienced locksmith to contact for such work.

I also have several other locks in the house that look a bit different and I will take them apart, photo them, and get your feedback. Plus, I have a double HUGE pocket door that the previous owner took the locks out and put DOORKNOBS in the pull holes!! Now you can’t open them all the way and the knobs bang into the black walnut casing. They slide beautifully, like the day they were installed. Great workmanship in the original parts of the house but the refurbs in the ’70’s and ’80’s were horrible!

A number of helpful locksmiths have suggested that the R&E locks should be stamped with the key numbers, so perhaps if you could have a look on the locks and see if that is the case ?
