A friend of mine just bought an old house in Boston and for the sake of keeping the current interior doors period correct, he would like to find the keys for his locks. He was already on ebay and got some of the more common P9 and P10 keys for the couple P locks he has, but it seems most of his locks are stamped Q2 through Q24 and it almost feels like the Q series was like having a restricted keyway would be in this day and age. None of the Boston locksmiths want to help him, they’d rather sell him new locks.
Does anyone know if there is a chart of the Q keys or a place that still sells them? If the levers in his locks are all the same, was there a Q key that could be skeletonized to be the master key for all the doors?
