Hello,
The key itself was actually made by the Chicago Lock Co (CHICAGO) If you were a manufacturer of desks, gumball machines, telephones, or slot machines, you, for an additional charge for the die setup, could order the keys for your end products to be imbossed with your name, company logo, or in this case: a woman.
On a side note, the key profile (shape of blade) is what CHICAGO used as their “restricted” blank, set-aside for customers that did not want copies of a given key to be made any ol’ where. This is evidenced by the 2 very finely cut grooves on the side of the key with the woman logo.
Cheers,
–Vince
