I would concur re a safe. Keys with pins are either :
A - For customs padlocks
B - Very early locks.
The position of the ‘bit’ suggests a safe lock to me rather than anything else.
The needs name on the key dates it from 1874. The design of the bit confirms it’s for a lock made after 1805. So I would say the key is circa 1875 - 1900 but the lock for which it was intended was made prior to 1810 or so.
