Hi there

Is there anyone on the forum that might be able to assist me.

I am a mature student at Wolverhampton University and have started researching my third year dissertation.

As I was born and bred in, what was the lock capital of the world, Willenhall I have chosen to research the history of lock making. In particular, the methods & practices of production around the Willenhall area.

If there is anyone that could suggest any books or sources of information that might be of use to this project I would be very grateful

The book has ben put onto the list that I have to try & obtain from the library

I think you will find a lot of history if you visit individual lock manufacturers sites. Sorry I can’t give you links. Chubb Assa Abloy, Imperial Locks, Bramah.

Remember Lock museum too. Also ‘chubbarchive’ that’s an individual’s site.

Search safe companies as well Chatwood, Milner, mosler, Yale, Withers, watch your thread here I’m sure you’ll get more info.

Thanks for the advice

I’ve done the Lock museum & most of the web sites. So far I have quite a lot of information on the products themselves, but would like more info on the making processes themselves if anyone out there can help
